Jeily and Damian, you guys. LOOK AT THESE TWO.

I know I say this a lot, but this session genuinely had me smiling the whole drive home. There is something so special about photographing a couple who has been together for as long as these two have, the kind of easy, comfortable love that doesn't need to perform for anyone. It just exists. And when that kind of love shows up in front of my camera?

Oh, it is so good.

South Boulder Creek Trail is an absolute dream of a location for a couples session, and I honestly feel like it doesn't get talked about enough. The lush greenery, the winding trail, the Flatirons peeking through in the background! It has this gorgeous, almost magical quality that photographs beautifully in every season. And on a slightly stormy, overcast day like we had for Jeily and Damian's session? Even better. I know clouds and gray skies can feel a little disappointing when you're hoping for sunshine, but as a Boulder engagement photographer I will take soft, diffused overcast light over harsh midday sun every single time. It wraps around your subjects in the most flattering, dreamy way and gives the whole gallery this rich, moody quality that I just love.

And then there was Jeily in that red dress. You guys. A red dress against all that lush Colorado green, with the Flatirons as a backdrop and that soft stormy light? I mean. Come on. It was absolutely stunning and I was living for every single frame.

What made this session extra special was how completely relaxed Jeily and Damian were from the very beginning. As a Colorado couples photographer, I always come prepared to ease people into it — gentle direction, a little conversation, some movement to help shake off the camera nerves. But Jeily and Damian didn't need any of it. They just showed up as themselves, completely comfortable with each other and completely unbothered by the camera, and it showed in every single image. Years of loving each other well has a way of doing that. You can't fake that kind of ease, and you absolutely cannot manufacture it in a session. It either shows up or it doesn't. With these two, it showed up in spades.

Jeily and Damian, thank you so much for spending your evening with me on that trail. You two are absolutely lovely and I had the best time with you. Here's to many more years of that beautiful, effortless love!
